Federica Mogherini meets the Speaker of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada, Volodymyr Groysman
Federica Mogherini,
High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of
the European Commission, met with the Speaker of Verkhovna
Rada, Volodymyr Groysman, this morning to discuss
the situation in Ukraine as well as the ongoing work on the reform agenda.
In the discussion, they agreed that urgent way
out is needed from the current political crisis, to maintain the clear and
strong focus on economic and political reform process. The broader reform
efforts – including on constitutional amendments on judiciary and on decentralisation - need to continue to deliver results for
the benefit of the Ukrainian people. The High Representative highlighted the
important role Rada is playing in the reform drive in
the country, including through the adoption of several important laws related
to the implementation of the Visa Liberalisation
Action Plan.
The High Representative and the Speaker also
stressed the need for full implementation of the Minsk Agreements.
