Fellow Ukrainian citizens!
International Mother Language Day has been launched to support linguistic and cultural diversity, as well as to preserve multilingualism. Any language is the common heritage of humankind because it enriches not only native speakers but also the entire human civilization. Therefore, protecting languages and supporting linguistic diversity is a matter for all nations and the entire global community.
Current Ukraine actively promotes the development of the Ukrainian language not only as the official language but also as the language of daily communication. The Ukrainian language has become an integral part of contemporary Ukrainian cultural content. Modern Ukrainian book, song, cinema, theater are gaining popularity not only in the country of their origin but also abroad. And that is encouraging. That inspires optimism when thinking about the future. I want to emphasize that the decades of excessive dominance of the Russian product aimed at total depreciation and washing out of the Ukrainian cultural, humanitarian, information environment. This became one of the major reasons for the waging of the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine.
At the same time, Ukraine is a multinational country, and its linguistic and ethnic diversity, the coexistence of different cultures, their mutual influence makes our country culturally rich and unique. The Government will pursue the policy of the protection and development of the Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar and other languages of national minorities. I believe that the economic and social development of Ukraine is inextricably intertwined with the harmonious development of all cultures, nationalities and their mutual enrichment. The language component is one of the most important components of our further advancement.
May cultural and linguistic diversity always be a guarantee of success, harmonious development of personality, the society and the state of Ukraine!
