Air medical transportation of patients by State Emergency Service aircraft is being relaunched. The Government has approved the relevant procedure for organizing such transportation, Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi reported.

"This will significantly reduce the time needed to transport patients between hospitals who require urgent specialized medical care, and will also make it possible to deliver Ukrainians for treatment abroad, including under the Medevac Ukraine program," the Head of Government stressed.

The Prime Minister gave an example: currently, the journey from Kharkiv to the evacuation hub in Rzeszów, Poland, can take 15-16 hours by ground transport. By air, it can be covered in 2-3 hours.

According to Sergii Koretskyi, the Government has separately provided for the transportation of donor organs for transplantation, medical teams and necessary equipment.

Evacuation will be coordinated by the Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center of Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health. The State Emergency Service will provide aircraft and crews, taking into account security and weather conditions.

"For patients in critical condition, every hour matters. Our task is to ensure they can receive the necessary medical care as quickly as possible. We plan for the mechanism to start working by the end of the year," the Head of Government emphasized.
