Update on the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection

According to the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as of January 6, in Ukraine there have been officially confirmed 6,911 (203 children out of this number, 406 healthcare workers) new cases of COVID-19 infection. The number of active cases makes up 309,241.

During the last 24 hours, there have been hospitalized 2,978 persons, 228 patients died, 14,490 persons recovered. There have been conducted 52,968 testing (34,938 using the PCR method and 18,030 using the ELISA method).

During the entire pandemic in Ukraine:

  • 1,090,496 persons contracted COVID-19 infection;
  • 761,898 people recovered;
  • 19,357 people died;
  • 5,680,116 testing have been conducted.

Data from the temporarily occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk regions and the city of Sevastopol are not available. The studies were conducted by the Virology Reference Laboratory of the Public Health Center of Ukraine, as well as by regional laboratories.
