The Government is allocating UAH 354.6 million for repairing shelters in maternity hospitals and strengthening the protection of healthcare facilities, Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi announced.

According to him, UAH 294.8 million will go toward repairing shelters in 84 facilities that provide maternity care. The shelters will be equipped to meet the needs of pregnant women, women in labor, and newborns, with heating, lighting, water, and ventilation.

"It is important that women with limited mobility can reach them safely. Medical staff will be able to deliver babies and care for mothers and children even during air raid alerts," the Head of Government said.

A further UAH 59.8 million will go toward strengthening the protection of healthcare facilities under the Ministry of Health's remit that have inpatient departments, the Prime Minister added. This covers operating rooms, intensive care units, neonatal intensive care units, delivery rooms, and more. Gabions, metal roller shutters, and impact-resistant protective film for windows will be installed for this purpose.

"We are reallocating funds within the Ministry of Health's budget, so this requires no additional expenditure," Sergii Koretskyi emphasized.
