Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Kryklii held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to Ukraine Andre Groenewald today, October 5, in Kyiv.
The parties discussed the prospects of possible cooperation between the two countries in various areas, including aviation and maritime transport.
Vladyslav Kryklii said that the Ukrainian side was interested in developing cooperation with South Africa and further deepening cooperation in the field of transport. Ukraine is also interested in joint implementation of projects and development of cooperation in the field of infrastructure.
The Minister stressed the importance of continuing joint work of the two countries on the draft intergovernmental agreement on air services. The final text of this document has already been agreed, and the State Aviation Service of Ukraine is currently translating it for further internal elaboration.
The parties also discussed possible joint steps in the development of maritime cooperation. Vladyslav Kryklii positively noted the desire of both states to improve the current regulatory framework. Therefore, Ukraine and South Africa are currently working on two draft agreements: an intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and South Africa on maritime merchant shipping, and a Memorandum on the recognition of diplomas/certificates of seafarers.
In addition, Vladyslav Kryklii shared Ukraine's achievements in implementing large-scale concession projects, in particular, the conclusion of the first concession agreements with the seaports of Olvia and Kherson with a total investment of about $ 134 million, and familiarized the South African side with promising projects 2021.
