The situation on Belarus' borders with Lithuania and Poland is tenser than ever. This is a migration crisis, which Ukraine sees as a hybrid attack caused by Russia on Belarusian territory. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in the Saturday Interview program on Radio Svoboda.

Last week, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 21 million to fortify Ukraine's border with the Republic of Belarus. According to the Prime Minister, this amount is needed to start strengthening those areas where migrants who are currently on the Belarusian-Polish border are likely to pass.

"UAH 21 million is the initial sum that will be used for the construction of special fortifications, as well as for increasing the number of border troops in the relevant areas of the Ukrainian border. Funds will be added to this amount when necessary," the Prime Minister said.

Apart from that, Denys Shmyhal added that Ukraine has a program initiated by President Volodymyr Zelensky to build the state border.

"We are changing the strategy of the management of our borders. An appropriate department will be set up within the Ministry of Infrastructure to deal with civilian infrastructure at the border so that we can finally impose order in the checkpoints. It will also be implemented within the framework of the Large Construction programme," accentuated the Prime Minister.
