For the first time, the Government is launching a support mechanism for collaborative applied research and development commissioned by technology companies to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities and economy, Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi announced.

“We are investing UAH 100 million in the initiative this year. Priority areas include security and defence, energy, transport, healthcare, agriculture, IT and robotics,” the Prime Minister emphasised.

Under the mechanism, teams from public universities and research institutions will develop solutions to meet companies’ specific technological and production needs. Depending on the size of the business, the state will cover between 50% and 65% of the project cost, with the commissioning company funding the remainder. This support will help take projects from initial concept and testing through to a finished solution.

“Our aim is to give Ukrainian research and development more opportunities to contribute to the country’s defence and economy, while helping businesses find the technology they need here in Ukraine,” Sergii Koretskyi said.
