The Government of Ukraine offers the experts and representatives of IT sector to develop synergy and work out the comprehensive rules for the development of the IT sector for the next 5-10 years, as well as to create opportunities for high-quality education and training of IT staff.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during a meeting with representatives of the IT sphere.
The Head of Government has not once emphasized that IT domain is one of the engines of the Ukrainian economy. It is the IT sector that is the growth point and entry point for new technologies, innovative solutions. It is the basis of the cybersecurity of the country. According to expert estimates, the volume of exports of telecommunication and IT services from Ukraine last year exceeded $2 billion, and the number of people employed in this area exceeds 160 thousand people. In the coming years, the share of IT can grow up to 6-8% of GDP from the current 4%.
In addition, the IT sector is a huge sector of small and medium-sized businesses, so its interests have been protected and will be protected in the future.
In his address to representatives of the IT industry, Volodymyr Groysman noted that the IT sector is not just another direction of work. Today, it is crucial for Ukraine to overcome digital discrimination, and thus to give a powerful impetus to attracting new technologies into education, healthcare, and the development of electronic services, of which there are already 118, and there are planned another 50 this year.
"And here we face two fundamental questions, the answer to which we must find together. The first is the creation of sustainable rules for the development of the IT sector. We should determine for the upcoming 5 or 10 years the appropriate regulations and the tax base - so that investments in the IT sector are protected. And the second issue is education and training of personnel, their engagement into the real sector of the economy of Ukraine", said Volodymyr Groysman. "These are two essential objectives. They will provide an opportunity for rapid growth in the sector and in the economy as a whole."
Meetings with representatives of the IT sector and creative industries are traditional for the Government of Ukraine. A great number of ideas and initiatives, in particular regarding new construction norms or business facilitation tools, were presented and discussed during such meetings. Aftermath, they were implemented through the adoption of Government decisions or legislative acts. This time the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko took part in the meeting.
