  • Prime Minister: Our aspiration is to acquire full-fledged membership in the EU and to ensure compliance with European living standards

    Ukraine’s aspiration to become a full-fledged member of the European Union and to ensure standards of living in Ukraine meet the standards of life of the EГ. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced this during a joint press conference with the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrii Parubii and former President of the European Parliament Pat Cox and European MPs. The press conference was held at the round table "Effective implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union as the main element of European integration of Ukraine". Such event became traditional, and usually it’s attendees are lawmakers, the European Parliament, government officials and Ukrainian and European diplomats.

    It has also become a tradition to shape a plan for cooperation between all branches of power. A year ago, in February 2018, the Head of Government and the Speaker of the Parliament also identified and presented a package of key bills for consideration in the context of the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union. During the year more than 20 bills were discussed and approved, 12 of them as a whole.

    "The European Union has become our biggest partner and we feel its support. The road to the EU is a way to change the quality of life of citizens. Our aspiration is full membership and compliance with the European standards of living", the Prime Minister said.

    The Head of Government stressed that the Association with the EU offers opportunities. "This requires synergy between the President, the Parliament and the Government in order to make our actions more effective," Volodymyr Groysman said.

    According to the Prime Minister, incorporation of the Euro-Atlantic course in the Constitution was of unparalleled importance. "This envisages a clear structure of the work of authorities, And now we feel unity in the implementation of solutions", he added.

    The Head of Government hailed a decision of the Verkhovna Rada to create a parliamentary Reforms Office, on the model of the Reforms Delivery Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, that will facilitate the development and adoption of important decisions, and, consequently, prompt  and qualitative integration with the European Union.
