Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal took part in official events in Kyiv dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian Radio.

“Today, Ukrainian Radio is a great information force. It has the largest network, non-stop operation, trust of Ukrainians, and positive dynamics of listener coverage. Ukrainian radio has a glorious past and will have an equally worthy future,” said Denys Shmyhal.

The Head of Government noted that Ukrainian radio played a key role in crucial epochs. During the World War II, it called for the fight against the occupiers. And in 1991, the listeners of Ukrainian Radio were the first to hear how independence was proclaimed in the Verkhovna Rada.

He added that with the outbreak of a full-scale war, Ukrainian Radio immediately switched to a wartime broadcasting format.

“Now the voice of Ukrainian Radio is heard in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. For people under occupation, it is a voice of hope. Hope for liberation, hope for freedom and unity with their fellow citizens. This is a significant moral support in anticipation of liberation and victory,” the Prime Minister said.

Denys Shmyhal thanked all the employees who became part of the great information resistance to russian fakes and propaganda. This mission, he said, is not yet complete: “But I know that each and every person at Ukrainian Radio performs it with dignity, sincerity and professionalism.”

During the event, Ukrposhta also held a special postmarking of the artistic postage stamp “New Century of Ukrainian Radio”.
