The Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry hosted a working meeting with a team of the DAI organization within the framework of developing a new financial assistance package to Ukraine from USAID on the development of the cybersecurity system in Ukraine.
The meeting was chaired by Maksym Nemchynov, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, with the participation of Deputy Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, Julia Podkomorna, and aimed to share the experience and hold a discussion on improving the future package of assistance to Ukraine on cybersecurity, to tackle the needs and possible cooperation on projects to strengthen the cybersecurity system in Ukraine.
The delegation of the American partner organization DAI came to Kyiv as a potential executor of the USAID program.
Maxym Nemchynov noted the urgency of the issues of cybersecurity and taking measures to combat cyber threats, in particular in the energy sector. At that, he noted that there are two areas of work: cyber defense of objects of critical energy infrastructure and cybersecurity of the Ministry of Energy and Coal as a central executive body. At present, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry works in both directions to create a sectoral security system in the energy sector.
"We will be pleased to accept the proposal on cooperation to strengthen cybersecurity", the State Secretary said.
Deputy Minister Julia Pidkomorna informed that measures on combating cyber threats are being implemented at the enterprises of the fuel and energy complex, at the same time there is a need to create a comprehensive system of protection of critical energy infrastructure.
SocialBoost public organization is a partner of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), as well as other private executors of US Government assistance programs, including DAI, TAPAS, DOBRE, etc. The authorized representatives informed about the goals and objectives of the DAI Digitalisation Center, the SocialBoost organization and the prospects for possible cooperation.
It should be noted that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) pays considerable attention to the implementation of projects to strengthen energy security. Another direction of work planned is the support of projects in the area of service digitalization, provision of digital services for vulnerable groups of the population and strengthening of the cybersecurity system in this regard.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed on the elaboration of proposals for further possible cooperation.
