Voluntary reduction in electricity consumption by at least 20% will help stabilize the energy system after the russian attacks, says German Galushchenko

A deliberate reduction in electricity consumption by at least 20% will help stabilize the operation of the Ukrainian energy system after massive russian shelling.

This was stated by the Minister of Energy German Galushchenko on air of the national telethon Yedyni Novyny (Single News – ed.).

The Minister emphasized that energy workers were looking for ways to ensure sufficient generation capacity to decrease the deficit in the system. At the same time, consumers should help energy companies maintain the energy front.

Stabilizing the operation of the power system, in particular, contributes to the reduction in electricity consumption during the day and especially in peak hours.

"In the first days of the massive russian missile attacks, the voluntary cuts in consumption amounted to an average of 10%. Meanwhile, the enemy's attacks continue and the energy system needs the load to be reduced," the Minister said.

German Galushchenko emphasized that energy savings are demonstrated by consumers throughout Ukraine, regardless of region.

"The russians are trying to destroy the energy system in the entire country, regardless of where they find energy infrastructure facilities - in the West, East, North or South. Today, we are the only organism that is fighting against the aggression towards our energy industry," he emphasized.

The Minister accentuated that the voluntary reduction of consumption allows us to avoid forced outages, which can also be applied at the expense of reducing the load on the power grid and providing energy companies with opportunities to repair equipment damaged as a result of terrorist attacks.
