In Kyiv, on October 20, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation Ignazio Cassis. The Head of the Ukrainian Government noted the importance and symbolism of the Swiss President's visit to Ukraine against the background of russia's massive missile attacks.

"Since October 10, russia has launched more than 300 missiles on the territory of Ukraine, striking civilian and energy infrastructure. On the part of the Government, we are doing everything we can to maintain the stability of the supplies of energy, heat and drinking water for the population," Denys Shmyhal stressed and thanked Switzerland for its contribution to the support of our state in many directions.

The parties discussed humanitarian aid, in particular in the demining process. As the Prime Minister of Ukraine noted, our state needs additional support in this direction and will be grateful for the provision of new technologies and equipment.

Denys Shmyhal emphasized that preparations for the restoration of Ukraine continue. According to him, the Lugano Conference became the starting point for the international dialogue on the recovery of Ukraine, while the Lugano Principles - the framework for all future negotiations and agreements.

"We will prolong our work at the scientific and expert level in Berlin in a week on immediate and post-war reconstruction," the Head of the Ukrainian Government said.

Ignazio Cassis, for his part, said that during the visit he had attended the released Borodianka and Ivankiv in Kyiv region and seen what problems people are facing. In this regard, Switzerland is preparing a new package of humanitarian support.

Also today, Ukraine and Switzerland concluded agreements on cooperation in the field of searching for missing persons.

A Letter of Intent on cooperation between the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland and the State Scientific Research Expert Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on technical support to assist in finding out the fate of missing persons was signed.

In particular, during 2022-2023, it is planned to supply special forensic equipment worth 400,000 Swiss francs, thereby contributing to the identification activities of the Center's accredited laboratories in the regions most affected by russian military aggression.

In addition, a Letter of Intent on cooperation between the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances was inked. The Swiss side aims to provide assistance in equipping the regional representative offices that see the stage of creation, as well as to promote the study of the best international experience.
