Denys Shmyhal: Government allocated almost UAH 3.1 billion to Zaporizhzhia region in 2024
It is extremely important to strengthen security in Zaporizhzhia region, continue reconstruction, and provide comprehensive support to people. This was emphasised by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during an offsite Government meeting in Zaporizhzhia region.
“In 2024, the Government allocated almost UAH 3.1 billion to Zaporizhzhia region for various needs. More than UAH 623 million of this amount was allocated for recovery projects. Including the reconstruction of housing and critical infrastructure,” the Prime Minister said.
According to the Head of Government, UAH 1.4 billion was allocated directly to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration for the construction of fortifications. In total, this year the Government has allocated UAH 2.4 billion for the construction of defence lines in the region.
“This is one of the key priorities. After all, it is about protecting the lives of our military and our defence capabilities,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Prime Minister noted that the Government constantly supported the region in the form of targeted subventions. The region has already received more than UAH 706 million for the construction of shelters in schools and hospitals, the purchase of school buses, vocational education institutions and other important needs.
During the meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers also allocated almost UAH 206 million in subventions for the construction of school shelters for six regions. This includes almost UAH 78 million for Zaporizhzhia region.
In addition, the Government responds to requests from local authorities and supports important initiatives.
In particular, according to Denys Shmyhal, there was a request to allocate funds to repair roads used by military vehicles, and the Government allocated an additional UAH 350 million for Zaporizhzhia.
“We received a request to make water and heating utilities eligible for receiving humanitarian aid, and the relevant decisions have been made. There was another request to allocate funds for the reconstruction of an apartment building, and we made a decision to use the funds allocated in the budget to support regional policy,” said the Prime Minister, adding that the practice of supporting the reconstruction of such facilities would continue.
Following the meeting, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development were instructed to prepare a decision to allocate UAH 74 million for the overhaul of the multi-storey building on Sobornyi Avenue as soon as possible.
The Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Finance are also to work out ways to finance the reconstruction of the City Emergency Hospital.
In addition, the Government has instructed to allocate UAH 94 million for the reconstruction of a building on Zestafonska Street in Zaporizhzhia.
