Trade Representative of Ukraine at the WTO Ministerial Conference: Ukraine is open for business and continues to improve the investment climate

"Ukraine is open for business and trade, and will further reform the economy, making it even more attractive for domestic and foreign business", appealed to the participants of the 10th WTO Ministerial Conference in Nairobi, Kenya, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine/Trade Representative of Ukraine Nataliya Mykolska.

The Trade Representative of Ukraine noted that all are witnesses of how certain members of the WTO don’t follow with the assumed commitments and impose politically motivated trade restrictions.

She noted that since the previous Conference, Ukraine had passed through serious challenges, including severe economic and trade crisis, caused primarily by the illegal annexation of Crimea, the military conflict in the East of the country and the consequent loss of production capacities in the conflict zone, as well as the restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation.

Nataliya Mykolska reminded that in the current year Ukraine had ratified the Agreement on the simplification of trade procedures and had been invited to join the Agreement on government procurement (GPA).

"Despite the difficulties that we experience, the Government of Ukraine has launched and implements consistently and vigorously the crucial internal reforms, aimed primarily at stabilizing the macroeconomic situation. As export traditionally makes up over 50% of the GDP of our country, trade has been and will remain a significant component of further growth of the Ukrainian economy", she added.
