At the initiative of the Ministry of Energy, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has defined the mechanism for using the relevant funding from the Finland-Ukraine Investment Facility and the terms of its provision to Ukrnafta.

First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said the funds are credit resources raised for the state budget under the Framework Agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Finland, signed in November 2024. The agreement opened up opportunities for projects aimed at the recovery and strengthening of Ukraine.

"The allocated funding will allow Ukrnafta to launch four projects to install gas piston power plants in Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions. This will add about 60 MW of capacity to our energy system. Ukrnafta will purchase the power plants and auxiliary equipment, and carry out the installation, testing and commissioning of the units," Denys Shmyhal stressed.

The First Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to Finland for its steady support of Ukraine, which makes it possible to build up domestic decentralized generation, improve the reliability of electricity supply in the regions and strengthen the country's energy security.
