"We expect an official announcement and a public statement by (the
President of the European Commission) Jean-Claude Juncker
about the fact that Ukraine has fulfilled all the requirements for a visa-free
regime for the citizens of Ukraine to travel to the European Union", said
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk at a Government meeting on Friday,
December 18.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk
stressed that Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin had informed
about the events in Brussels, where today the decision of the European
Commission on granting Ukraine a visa-free regime with the EU is due to be
announced.
"I would
like to congratulate everyone on the fact that an official announcement and a public
statement by (the President of the European Commission) Jean-Claude Juncker about the fact that Ukraine has fulfilled all the
requirements for a visa-free regime for the citizens of Ukraine to travel to the
European Union," Arseniy Yatsenyuk accentuated.
He called it the
result of joint activities: "When we work together, we always succeed. It
is the result of the work of the President of Ukraine, who was in Brussels. It
is the result of the work of the Government, and it is the result of the work
of the Ukrainian Parliament that despite all the difficulties supported the
government's initiative and voted in favour of the
necessary laws".
"This is a significant
step on the way towards our European integration, when Ukrainian citizens get a
chance to travel across the territory of our Europe without visas, as Ukraine
is a part of the European family", said Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
