Yulia Svyrydenko: Holocaust remembrance serves as a global call to prevent crimes against humanity
Today, the world honors the memory of millions of victims of the Holocaust, one of the most heinous crimes in human history. This was emphasized by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
During World War II, the Nazi regime exterminated about six million Jews, as well as millions of other innocent people, including Ukrainians.
“Babyn Yar has become one of the most painful symbols of this tragedy in Ukraine: during the occupation, the Nazis killed about 100,000 Jews, Ukrainians, Roma, and representatives of other nationalities there — solely because of their identity,” the Head of Government noted.
The Prime Minister stressed that the memory of the Holocaust reminded to the whole world of the responsibility to stop crimes against humanity, protect human life, and not remain silent in the face of violence, which is happening again today in the center of Europe.
“Unpunished evil breeds new evil. And only through unity can it be overcome. Human life must remain the highest value for the entire civilized world,” Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized.
Eternal memory to all victims of the Holocaust.
