Yulia Svyrydenko: Teachers' salaries increase by 30% starting January 1, 2026
This week, teachers across the country will begin receiving their first salary increases. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
According to her, starting January 1, 2026, salaries for teachers in general secondary education institutions will increase by 30%.
"Safe and quality education is one of the key priorities of the Government. The teaching profession must be decent and competitive. The Government is working consistently to ensure dignified working conditions for all teachers," Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized.
The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, together with the heads of regional military administrations and local self-government bodies, to work out the issue of payments in each region. The payment of increased salaries must be made on time and in full, based on state education subsidies and additional payments from local authorities.
In case of questions or the need for clarification, communities can contact MES (Ministry of Education and Science) specialists for consultation via the hotline: (044) 481-47-85.
In addition, in 2026, extra monthly payments will stay in place: UAH 2,000 for all teachers and UAH 4,000 for teachers working in frontline communities.
Yulia Svyrydenko noted that this was only the first stage of the planned increase in teachers' salaries scheduled for this year. The next stage provides for an additional 20% salary increase from September 1, 2026, for all categories of teachers.
“Ukrainian teachers remain close to children even in the most difficult times and continue to teach in conditions of constant anxiety, shelling, and power outages,” the Head of Government emphasized.
