Yulia Svyrydenko: Updating approaches to the regulatory monetary assesment of agricultural land to support farmers
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved changes to the methodology for the normative monetary valuation of agricultural land. The decision is aimed at supporting farmers, particularly in frontline regions, and takes into account current challenges related to climate change and the consequences of the blast by russian military of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant.
The updated methodology will allow for more accurate land valuation, particularly in the southern areas—Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions.
“The assessment will now take into account the current level of moisture supply based on hydrometeorological data, as well as the impact of lost irrigation,” commented Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
The changes introduced will ensure a more accurate and fair assessment of land value, on which the tax burden and the economic viability of farmers’ operations directly depend.
In addition, access to information is being simplified.
Landowners and users will be eligible to obtain extracts dated to a specific date. The documents will contain more detailed information about the plot’s characteristics and the components of the calculation, thereby allowing for a clear understanding of how the valuation is determined.
Yulia Svyrydenko thanked every farmer who, under difficult conditions, continues to work for Ukraine’s food security and sustainability.
