Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion spoke at the Regional Development Council in Kharkiv region and talked about changes in the energy and infrastructure of the country over the past three years.

The top official said that Zmiivska TPP, which operates in Kharkiv region, was the first in Ukraine in 2017 to switch from using scarce coal of anthracite group to coal from gas group produced in Ukraine. "This served as a good example for other TPPs, and today 75% of the thermal power plants in Ukraine are working on the gas group coal", Volodymyr Kistion stressed.

The Deputy Prime Minister also told that, on the results of the first gas auction held on March 6, a 20-year license for geological exploration of the oil and gas deposit of South-Kobzivska area located in Kharkiv region with the subsequent extraction of oil and gas there, was issued by state-run company Ukrgazvydobuvannia.

"5% of rent for each cubic meter of extracted gas will remain for the benefit of the community of Kharkiv region. This is provided by the legislation of Ukraine. In 2018, by the way, all gas producers in the region paid around UAH 792 million to the communities", said Volodymyr Kistion.

Apart from that, according to the official, Chinese investors intend to build one of the largest alternative solar power plants in Pervomaysk. China is ready to invest in this project about EUR 50 million. "This is not just a figure, these are additional jobs in the region, competitive wages, additional revenues to the state budget", said Volodymyr Kistion.

To wind up with his statement, the Deputy Prime Minister commended the success of Kharkiv region in the modernization of the road network.
