March 20, 2019, at a meeting of the Government, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On Approval of the Procedure for the Formation, Filling and Access to the Unified State Register of Cases of Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Violence" was adopted.

The adoption of the resolution proved necessary in order to ensure the work of specialists engaged in the implementation of measures to prevent and counteract of violence, timely detection of the facts of violence and the response to them, protection of vital interests of victims, prevention of repeated cases of violence, ensuring the conduct of activities in this area, providing comprehensive and timely assistance to victims, and the accounting of cases of violence.

The aforesaid legal act is aimed at:

- ensuring the creation and functioning of the Unified State Register of Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Violence Cases as an automated information and telecommunication system intended for the collection, accumulation, storage, use, distribution of stipulated for by the Law of Ukraine "On Prevention and Combating Domestic Violence" data on cases of domestic violence and gender-based violence;

- resolution of issues related to the formation and filling of the Register, the confidentiality of the use of data, access to the information contained therein;

- determination of the powers of the keeper, administrator, record clerks and users of the Register.
