For the first time, Ukraine presents the national stand at London Book Fair
From March 12 till March 14, the national stand of Ukraine organized by the team of the Ukrainian Book Institute will be presented, for the first time, at the 48th London Book Fair.
The visual basis of the Ukrainian stand is illustrations to the book "Agrafka" by Andriy Lesiv and Romana Romanyshyn who are winners of the BolognaRagazzi Award 2018.
The official opening of the stand will take place today, March 12, at 17:00 EET. The Ukrainian delegation is headed by the Minister of Culture Yevhen Nishchuk. He noted that the presentation of the national stand at such a prestigious forum is evidence of team-coordinated work both of state institutions and representatives of the Ukrainian book publishing industry.
"The presence at the World Book Fair in London is another leap forward in the development of the book industry in Ukraine, in the promotion of Ukrainian authors through translations, through illustrators, through publishers, and it's a promotion of Ukraine. All countries of the world are represented here, which is a confirmation of the fact that we are on the right path of investment in the development of the national book industry. This is also a good opportunity for the newly created Ukrainian Book Institute to implement a government policy aimed at developing book publishing and book reading of Ukraine at the international level. Such a bright and beautiful presentation of Ukraine is a confirmation that we are working in the right direction. The stand has not yet opened, but attracts the attention of many visitors, so we expect tangible results," the Minister of Culture underscored.
The London Book Fair is a large book-publishing trade fair, a platform for a negotiation, purchasing rights and a demonstration of publishing achievements by countries. According to the organizers, more than 1,700 participants and more than 25,000 visitors are expected at the 48th London Book Fair. Over three days more than 200 educational workshops and demonstrations will take place. During the Quantum conference a special emphasis will be placed on non-fiction, artificial intelligence, voice assistants for choosing books, and expanding audiences and new business models. The focus of the exhibition is the book market of Indonesia.
