Today, March 12, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources hosted a ceremony for the transfer of new cars to the national nature parks and reserves of Ukraine.
The Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Ostap Semerak handed the keys to cars Renault Duster to 20 objects of the Nature Reserve Fund of Ukraine, which since the time of their creation were not procuring any vehicles.
"Today we are making another step towards preserving Ukrainian nature. 20 new Renault Duster crossovers were sent to different parts of Ukraine to protect Ukraine's unique natural resources. This is the first major purchase of cars for the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine for the last 6 years", said Ostap Semerak.
Vehicles purchased for public funds are specially equipped for use in difficult conditions and intended to improve the work of the Nature Reserve Fund under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, which is provided with transport at only 35% against the required quantity.
Having the cars, the Nature Reserve Fund (NRF) safeguard service will be able to respond effectively to the occurrence of fires, illegal logging, pollution of territories, illegal dumpings, poaching and other violations of environmental law.
According to the Minister, this is just the beginning of support for the nature reserve area.
"Under the project "Support for nature reserve areas in Ukraine", which is being implemented within the framework of the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on financial cooperation, it is planned to additionally purchase about 40 cars for 9 national nature parks of the Carpathian region, which are included in the project", said Ostap Semerak.
In turn, the director of the National Nature Park "Meotida" in the Donetsk region Nadiya Dolgova thanked the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Government of Ukraine for the support and the great work, due to which the facilities of the NRF were provided not only with vehicles but also floating equipment and administrative buildings last year. Allotted funds were directed to the development of land management projects and the organization of territories and the establishment of visiting centers.
"All these steps for the preservation and development of natural reserve areas are very important. Despite the difficult times that our country is experiencing, we were all able to prove that our desires are overcoming our capabilities", Nadiya Dolgova said.
During the event, the Minister noted that recent years are the time for positive changes in nature-conservation policies. Last year, the Government of Ukraine, for the first time in all years of independence, allocated UAH 238 million for the development of NRF facilities.
