Ukraine and Finland are interested in intensifying cooperation in the energy sector

The Ministry of Energy hosted a seminar World Experience in Planning and Ensuring Sustainable Development of Energy Systems with the participation of representatives of the Ministry, energy companies and the Embassy of Finland.

In his address, First Deputy Minister of Energy Yurii Vlasenko stressed that Ukraine is interested in Finland's experience in terms of creating a model of low-carbon energy.

"We are interested in your experience and solutions, because Ukraine is also moving in the direction of creating a model of low-carbon energy development. Our country has already signed a number of documents, in which we have made commitments to reduce the carbon footprint and ensure sustainable development of renewable energy," he emphasized.

The Ambassador of Finland to Ukraine Päivi Laine, in turn, stressed that in today's security situation developments, the energy sector needs special attention. Finland supports Ukraine's desire to strengthen its energy independence, she added.

The Ambassador invited the leadership of the Ministry of Energy to take part in a meeting of the Ukrainian-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which is scheduled for spring in Helsinki. "Now is the time to intensify cooperation between Ukraine and Finland in the energy sector," Päivi Laine said.
