Three newest mobile water quality monitoring laboratories have been delivered by Korean partners to basin water resource management agencies in the frontline regions. The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk announced this on her Facebook page.
“The laboratories worth USD 466,000 were handed over to the State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine by the Government of the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Ukraine. This was made possible within the framework of the Government program “Ensuring Access to Safe Drinking Water in Ukraine,” said Svitlana Grynchuk.
According to her, the Water Supply Program for the frontline regions is one of the Government's priorities. Thanks to the new equipment, water specialists will be capable of quickly and efficiently examining the quality of surface water. The new mobile laboratories will be used in conjunction with stationary devices that allow for on-site measurement of up to 20 water quality indicators. Such devices were purchased by KOICA under this project at the end of 2023 in response to the threats posed by the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP dam.
Already today, the new equipment will be delivered to the water monitoring laboratories of the Eastern Region of the Siverskyi Donets Basin Water Resources Administration, the Regional Water Resources Office in Dnipropetrovsk region, as well as the Southern Region of the Black Sea and Lower Danube River Basin Water Resources Management.
“The latest equipment will speed up the response to pollution threats caused by military operations. It will allow us to take timely water samples and quickly measure the concentration of harmful substances on site. We are grateful to our Korean partners for their significant assistance in implementing the program and supporting Ukraine in this difficult time,” emphasized Svitlana Grynchuk.
