Government has extended a ban on imports of goods originating from the russian federation into the customs territory of Ukraine until December 31, 2025. The list of such goods was approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1147 dated December 30, 2015 and has been updated from time to time. The relevant decision was made at a Government meeting on December 13, 2024.
Also, on Tuesday, December 10, the Government extended the validity of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 1146 dated December 30, 2015, which sets import duty rates for goods originating in the russian federation, for another year - until December 31, 2025. These instruments have been in place since 2015 as countermeasures in response to the economic pressure that has been exerted over the years.
“Since April 9, 2022, the Government has been applying a full embargo on goods with the russian federation (Government Resolution No. 426 of April 9, 2022). No trade with russia and russian goods is taking place. However, we should not forget about the pressure that russia exerted before the full-scale invasion. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the effectiveness of those instruments that were previously used as countermeasures against russia. Over time, russia's economic pressure will receive a proper legal assessment. We hope that our Western partners will also continue to refuse any russian products. It is necessary to reduce the inflow of funds to the russian budget, which the aggressor country uses to continue the war,” emphasized Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine - Trade Representative of Ukraine.
As a reminder, in 2015 the Government adopted two resolutions to restrict trade with russia. This was in response to the actions of the aggressor state against Ukraine, in particular, the unilateral termination of the CIS Free Trade Agreement with respect to Ukraine by russia on January 1, 2016, and the introduction of bans on the import of a number of goods of Ukrainian origin.
The validity of these acts is extended every year in December.
