Ukraine counts on further development of cooperation with Japan, in particular in economy, IT and culture, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal emphasized during a meeting with the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda.

The Head of the Ukrainian Government thanked Japan for supporting Ukraine's territorial integrity and for participating in the inaugural summit of the Crimean Platform.

"I believe that Japan, as one of the world's major investors, can also become one of the leaders in terms of foreign direct investment in Ukraine's economy," said the Prime Minister.

According to Denys Shmyhal, the signing of a new intergovernmental Convention for the Avoidance of Double Taxation may help leverage investment.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of effective implementation of joint projects, in particular the reconstruction of the Bortnychy Aeration Station, which was also supported by the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Kuninori Matsuda.
