Oleksii Kuleba: Northern Rivne Bypass opens as one of Ukraine’s largest road infrastructure projects in recent years
A new transport artery has been opened in Rivne region – the Northern Rivne Bypass, which will improve connectivity between Ukraine’s regions, provide faster access to the M06 Kyiv–Chop international transport corridor, and facilitate links to the Yahodyn, Ustyluh and Uhryniv border crossing points on the Ukrainian-Polish border.
The project, stretching 14.5 km, is one of the largest road infrastructure developments completed in recent years.
“The Northern Rivne Bypass is of major importance both for the region and for the country as a whole. After a forced pause, we were able to resume work and complete this facility. Today, the Government is doing everything possible to finish infrastructure projects that are already at an advanced stage of readiness. The Northern Rivne Bypass is precisely such a project – one that has effectively moved from the category of long-term construction to that of a completed solution,” said Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba during a working visit to Rivne region.
The total cost of the project amounted to nearly UAH 2 billion. The works included the construction of a new 6 km road section, the reconstruction of 4 km of an existing road, and repairs to a further 4.5 km of road infrastructure and associated engineering structures.
The Northern Rivne Bypass is of strategic importance for the development of Ukraine’s transport infrastructure. It will divert transit traffic away from the city, improve road safety and reduce travel times along one of the key routes to the country’s western border.
In wartime conditions, the project also contributes to Ukraine’s logistical resilience by enabling more efficient transportation of humanitarian and military cargo, supporting economic activity and strengthening transport links with European Union countries.
