On October 6, within the framework of the Ukraine-EU Summit, Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine Oleksii Chernyshov met with Vice Presidents of the European Investment Bank Lilyana Pavlova and Teresa Czerwińska.
The parties discussed Ukraine's progress in implementing energy-efficient approaches to energy consumption in the housing sector and touched upon the issue of cooperation of the financial institution with our state in the future.
"In order to save energy, which is now often wasted, and at the same time take care of the environment, we must carry out extensive work to improve energy efficiency. I am grateful to our partners at the European Investment Bank for their help in this crucial process with finances and experience, which is sometimes much more valuable. I believe that our joint efforts will gradually change the approach of Ukrainian citizens to energy consumption and use," said Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Chernyshov.
Representatives of the European Investment Bank expressed interest in closer cooperation with Ukrainian regions in order to better take into account their urgent needs.
The participants of the meeting paid special attention to joint projects with the EIB, which are currently a priority for Ukraine, namely "Ukraine Municipal Infrastructure Program" and "Emergency Credit Program to Restore Ukraine".
The parties agreed to continue discussions on a possible revision of the distribution of funds of the "Ukraine Municipal Infrastructure Program", given the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was also agreed to resume negotiations in the future on the possibility to raise an additional credit under the "Emergency Credit Program to Restore Ukraine".
