  • State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving in synergy with European partners strengthen cooperation on improving legislation in clean energy sector in line with EU norms within the framework of the Twinning project

    The Chairman of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine Serhii Savchuk discussed how to stir the development of green energy with applying the best practices of the EU in the framework of the new Twinning Project with the head of the International Relations Department of the E-Control Austrian Energy Regulatory Authority Dietmar Preinstorfer.

    In particular, it is planned to draw on the expertise of Austria and Italy in the following areas:

    • the implementation of the Articles of the EU Renewable Energy Directive (2009/28/EC);
    • the implementation of the National Renewable Energy Action Plan until 2020 and the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 as part of the green energy sector;
    • raising awareness of the society, business, and investors on the potential and opportunities for implementing green projects in Ukraine.

    "It is important for us to work closely with Austria, which enters TOP-5 EU leaders on the share of green energy in the final energy consumption (32% in 2017)", said Serhii Savchuk.

    Moreover, Ukraine appreciates the possibility of a partnership with Italy, where according to the showings of 2017, 34% of electricity is generated from renewable sources.

    The joint development of effective incentives in this area will contribute to the further development of clean energy and the implementation of new projects, including with the participation of foreign investments.
