The Action Program of the Government foresees the abandonment of out-of date Soviet standards and the introduction of 28,000 new standards that fully meet the EU criteria, Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk informed, presenting the Parliament of the Government Action Program on Thursday, December 11.

According to him, now there are old Soviet "state standards" in Ukraine, and the transition to European standards-"it is like switching from 110 to 220 volts ", "It means to abandon the Soviet past and become part of the civilized world, where there is competitive economy, the possibility of selling goods in markets, where there are the largest markets."

"That's the reason why 1500 different kinds of Soviet standards will be switched to European ones. Ukrainian economy should fully meet the criteria and realities that exist in the EU", he said.

In general, 28 thousand new standards will be introduced: "It is quite long and difficult work on technical regulation. For this purpose, a technical mission of the European Union will help us transfer Ukraine’s economy to real European rails–it means quality and standards."
