Government approves new rules for medical facilities' operations depending on air threat level

The Government has approved new rules for the operation of healthcare facilities depending on the level of air threat. Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi announced this.

At the yellow level, medical facilities continue to operate as normal. At the same time, staff, patients and visitors must have full access to shelters.

At the red level, patients and medical staff must move to shelters. However, medical care that cannot safely be interrupted — including surgeries, resuscitation, intensive care and similar procedures — continues without interruption.

"Patients who cannot be moved continue to receive treatment in the safest available spaces. Medical care, medication dispensing and patient accommodation can all be provided in shelters and such spaces," the Prime Minister said.

The rules also define procedures for emergency medical services. These operate continuously regardless of the air threat level. Patients with urgent conditions are admitted regardless of the threat level. Dispatch services continue to take calls, and emergency medical teams continue to respond to patients.

Separately, the government has instructed that protection be strengthened for operating rooms, intensive care units, maternity and admissions departments, as well as spaces housing backup power sources and critical medical equipment.

"Particular attention must be paid to areas where patients who cannot be quickly moved are located," Sergii Koretskyi emphasized.
