Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity and Danish Refugee Council strengthen cooperation to support people in frontline communities

Ukraine's Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity and the Danish Refugee Council have agreed on further steps to ensure that people in frontline and war-affected communities receive the assistance and protection they need in a timely manner.

The joint action plan was signed by Tetiana Kiriienko, Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, and Julian Henner Zakrzewski, Country Director at the Danish Refugee Council.

The cooperation will cover comprehensive support for people, households and communities affected by the war who have urgent needs.

One of the key areas is housing and winter preparedness. This includes repairing and insulating homes, improving living conditions, and providing assistance with heating and fuel.

"For people in frontline communities, it's essential to have access to the help they need exactly when they need it. Where the security situation requires evacuation, our task is to help people leave and ensure they continue to receive support afterward. In communities where people remain, we and our partners need to work out practical solutions in advance and strengthen communities' capacity to respond to residents' needs. This is especially important ahead of the winter period," said Deputy Minister Tetiana Kiriienko.

The Danish Refugee Council has been providing humanitarian and charitable assistance to Ukrainians since 2014. Since the start of the full-scale war, the organization has significantly expanded its activities in Ukraine. During this time, millions of people have received support, including in the areas of socio-legal protection, economic development, housing reconstruction, humanitarian demining, and peacebuilding.
