  • Verkhovna Rada ratifies agreements with Australia and the Netherlands on international mission to Ukraine

    The Verkhovna Rada has endorsed draft laws on ratification of an Agreement between Ukraine and the Kingdom of the Netherlands on international mission to protect investigations, which was signed on July 28, 2014, and also an Agreement between Ukraine and Australia on sending personnel to Ukraine in connection with the Malaysia Airlines’ MH17 jetliner crash which was signed on July 24, 2014 in Kyiv.

    The two documents envisage practical engagement of police, military and non-military personnel from the Netherlands and Australia, other states whose citizens were aboard the MH17 plane until the reasons of the airplane’s downing are investigated.

    The missions are free to travel along Ukraine’s territory to get to the locations joined with holding the investigation process and have a right to search and gather the remnants as well as investigate the catastrophe, to conduct other kinds of activities which can be jointly determined by participants of the multinational international mission.

    The international investigation protection mission is comprised of over 700 armed persons, including up to 250 armed personnel from Australia.
