During the full-scale russian invasion, the public administration system has demonstrated the resilience of governance institutions and the people who work there. This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the St. Sophia of Kyiv Statesmen’s Forum on December 6.
“When russia had invaded, it expected a rapid collapse of our public administration. But the opposite happened. Ukrainians demonstrated unity and determination, and the state demonstrated strength and resilience,” the Head of Government emphasized.
During the Forum, Denys Shmyhal told the students of the Ukrainian Leadership Academy about the priorities of the Government. The primary among them, of course, is defense.
“We have created one of the strongest armies in Europe. Last year, our defense industry grew threefold, and this year we expect even greater growth,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
Another important priority is reconstruction. “We cannot wait until the war is over, because people need electricity, housing, schools, hospitals and transportation. That is why we are restoring these things in the first place,” the Prime Minister said.
The Head of Government called European integration the third priority that the Cabinet of Ministers was working on. “During the full-scale war, we have covered a huge distance from applying for EU membership to the opening of pre-accession negotiations,” he said, adding that this path was accompanied by titanic work: the adoption of dozens of laws and regulations, adaptation to European standards and their practical implementation, etc.
“The Government and the state are relying on young managers, as they will determine the trajectory of Ukraine's development in the 21st century,” emphasized Denys Shmyhal.
