Government adopts new rules for businesses and transport during air-raid alerts

The Government has adopted measures to adapt the operation of the state, businesses and infrastructure to russia’s new aerial attack tactics, Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi announced.

First, air-raid alerts will be divided into threat levels.

A yellow alert will apply during a drone attack.

A red alert will indicate a heightened threat of a missile or combined attack.

“The economy must continue to function, taxes must flow into the budget and people must receive their salaries. Businesses will therefore be allowed to remain open during a yellow alert, provided they comply strictly with all safety requirements,” the Prime Minister said.

Visitors and staff must also be given access to shelters.

“Where access is not yet available, the Government is allowing three months for the issue to be resolved. In the fifth year of the full-scale war, we cannot neglect people’s safety,” Sergii Koretskyi emphasised.

During a red alert, operations must stop and everyone must move to shelter.

Second, the Government recommends that Kyiv’s metro system remain fully operational during a yellow alert and that the number of surface public transport services be increased where necessary. This will help people travel to work, hospitals and metro stations.

Third, the application of curfew rules will be improved, particularly in Kyiv, to facilitate the transit of freight vehicles and the transport of passengers to and from railway stations. Local authorities have been advised to adjust curfew hours to run from 1 am to 5 am.

Fourth, the Government has introduced a clear requirement to accelerate the installation and equipping of additional mobile shelters in local communities to protect people from falling debris.

“The purpose of all these changes is to protect people while preventing enemy attacks from paralysing our cities, economy and critical infrastructure,” the Prime Minister stressed.
