In Davos, Yuliia Svyrydenko invited politicians and businessmen to join post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and implementation of joint projects

On the second day of the World Economic Forum, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko met with Minister of Economy of the Republic of Guatemala, Mr. Janio Rosales, Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Faisal Alibrahim, Chairman and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Sasaki Nobuhiko, and the management of Signify company, which was selected by the European Commission as one of the suppliers of LED lamps for the project on efficient electricity consumption by the population of Ukraine. Yuliia Svyrydenko also took part in the official event of the Kingdom of Belgium "Repowering Europe's Industry", attended by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Belgium and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium.

During the meeting with the Minister of Economy of the Republic of Guatemala, Mr. Janio Rosales, the parties discussed the expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries, Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula, as well as the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

"The Republic of Guatemala is one of Ukraine's main trading partners in the Central American region, and we would be very grateful if the Government of Guatemala would consider liberalizing the trade regime with Ukraine. Ukraine is interested in developing bilateral cooperation, in particular in expanding the legal framework for trade and investment. We are ready to start discussing ways to supply domestic agricultural products," said Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Yuliia Svyrydenko invited Guatemala to participate in the implementation of the Peace Formula of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the first and key practical step towards which will be the Global Peace Formula Summit, as well as to join the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine, in particular within the framework of the Investment Menu - an indicative plan for the development of the processing industry of Ukraine.

During her meeting with HE Faisal Alibrahim, Minister of Economy and Planning of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Yuliia Svyrydenko thanked for the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to mediate the exchange of prisoners. She urged her colleague to increase economic pressure on russia.

According to her, one of the most important issues of today is to restore the Ukrainian energy structure, which suffered from the attacks of the russian federation, and to ensure the country's energy security in the future.

"Despite the fact that the hostilities are still ongoing, we clearly understand that we will not be able to rise from the ruins without the joint efforts of our international partners. The key vectors of Ukraine's post-war development should be European integration, digitalization in the economy, the defense industry, energy, the agricultural sector, IT, construction and new infrastructure," said Yuliia Svyrydenko. "Despite the difficulties of wartime, there is a great demand from market operators to expand exports of Ukrainian products to Saudi Arabia.

During the conversation, the parties agreed to resume joint work in 2023 within the framework of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Saudi Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which will allow both countries to update and intensify mutually beneficial areas of cooperation in the economic and trade spheres.

During the meeting with Signify's management, the parties discussed a project to exchange LED lamps to ensure efficient electricity consumption by the population - the company will be one of the suppliers of the EU-funded batch.

In addition, they tackled the prospect of further cooperation. Despite the ongoing war, Ukraine is determined to work towards the realization of ambitious strategic goals of the energy transition.

Also on this day, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine met with Chairman and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Sasaki Nobuhiko.

During the meeting, Yuliia Svyrydenko expressed her gratitude to Japan for the support and assistance Ukraine had been receiving since the first days of the war. In particular, for the emergency grant assistance in the amount of about USD 2.57 million to support the winter period of the Ukrainian electricity sector. The key topics of the conversation were the development of trade relations between the two countries and participation in the restoration of Ukraine.

At the end of the day, Yuliia Svyrydenko took part in the official event of the Kingdom of Belgium "Repowering Europe's Industry" with the participation of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Belgium and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium.

During the conversation, the First Deputy Prime Minister thanked Belgium for its significant assistance to Ukraine during the russian military aggression and reminded the King that in the early 20th century Donbas had been considered the 10th province of Belgium, with more than 130 Belgian industrial enterprises operating there.

"Now Ukraine is also a solution for the development of European industry. By combining Ukrainian raw materials and European technologies, we are globally competitive together. And we will definitely not be dependent on russian supplies," Yuliia Svyrydenko assured the monarchs.
