As part of the reform of international bus transportation, the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development continues to work to ensure that buses cross the border in a timely manner. In particular, starting April 24, at 10 border crossing points with Moldova, each bus will have the opportunity to choose the time of border crossing within the eCherha service.
"One of the key tasks of the reform is to ensure that every bus crosses the border on time and that passengers are not forced to wait for hours at the border. To this end, we are gradually introducing the ability to choose the time of border crossing for each bus according to its schedule. This option has been operating for over a month at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk border crossing point with Poland, where only regular buses cross, and the results are already visible. The number of buses crossing the border per day has not decreased, but all of them leave according to the specified time. This means that our people are no longer waiting in physical queues. At the same time, we are working with the State Border Guard Service to increase the border capacity for buses, which will provide more opportunities for carriers to choose the time of crossing the border," said Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
The option to choose the time will be available at a total of 10 checkpoints with Moldova. Thus, Mamalyha-Criva and Mohyliv-Podilskyi-Otach will be added to the list:
Vynohradivka - Vulcanesti
Maloyaroslavets 1 - Ceadîr-Lunga
Reni - Giurgiulești
Serpneve 1 - Basarabeasca
Starokozache - Tudora
Tabaki - Myrne
Rososhany - Briceni.
Later, this option will be available at Palanka-Mayaky-Udobne checkpoint.
Registration for the new type of queue, called "On schedule" for the checkpoints with Moldova, starts on April 24 at 12:00. The buses will start running according to the new schedule on April 25 at 12:00.
Last August, the eCherha service was scaled up to buses. It is currently in testing mode at key bus checkpoints. At the first stage, the main goal of introducing this tool is to create an up-to-date network of regular routes and analyze the load on the border in general and at individual checkpoints. Based on the data obtained at the second stage of the service, each bus (regular and irregular) can choose the time of border crossing.
The Electronic Border Crossing Queue project is being implemented by the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Ukrtransbezpeka, the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development of Ukraine, the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine with the support of the USAID/UK aid Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration and Services/ TAPAS project.
