  • Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna meets with NATO Secretary General and holds a series of meetings at NATO Headquarters

    In the framework of her working visit to NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

    The interlocutors briefly exchanged views on the security situation and ways to strengthen support for Ukraine in countering full-scale russian aggression. In this context, the preparations for and agenda of the NATO Summit in Washington were discussed.

    During a broader conversation with the Director of the NATO Secretary General's Private Office, Stian Jenssen, the Deputy Prime Minister addressed the effective functioning of the NATO-Ukraine Council at all levels, as well as the implementation of the adapted Annual National Programme as a mechanism for preparing Ukraine for accession to the Alliance.

    At NATO Headquarters, Olha Stefanishyna also met with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Thomas Goffus. The parties discussed the intensification of the implementation of NATO's Comprehensive Assistance Package (CAP) projects for Ukraine.

    "It is crucial to concentrate bilateral efforts to fully launch the CAP projects in order to restore and strengthen our defence capabilities," said Olha Stefanishyna.

    During the meeting, the following issues were raised: the launch of a strategic assessment of the defence procurement system, as well as the finalisation of the Roadmap for achieving interoperability of the Defence Forces with the armies of NATO member states together with NATO. They also discussed other possible areas for joint projects.

    Olha Stefanishyna also met with the United States Permanent Representative to NATO, Ambassador Julianne Smith. The main topic of the conversation was preparations for the NATO Summit in Washington and strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities.
