  • Gov’t approves action plan for the preparation and celebration of the 28th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine

    On August 14, the action plan for the preparation and celebration of the 28th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine was approved at the Government meeting. The  relevant order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine was drafted by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine in pursuance of Decree of the President of Ukraine.

    The action plan envisages holding of official ceremony of raising the national flag of Ukraine on August 23 in Kyiv, other cities and foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine, as well as the cultural and artistic events "Flag Day" on St. Sophia square in Kyiv.

    On the Independence Day of Ukraine celebrations with participation of representatives of central and local executive bodies and local self-government, MPs, representatives of foreign countries, international organizations, clergy, the public, and organizations will be held.  Celebrations in other cities of Ukraine will also take place.

    Flowers will be laid to the monuments, memorial signs and burial places of outstanding Ukrainian figures, fighters for the independence of Ukraine, victims of the Revolution of Dignity and anti-terrorist operation participants.

    Moreover, national TV project "Ukrainian Song / UkrainianSongProject" will be held in Lviv.

    Apart from that, it is planned to hold information-educational and patriotic-educational events aimed at spreading knowledge about the events and figures of the history of Ukrainian state-building, thematic international scientific, scientific-practical conferences, round tables, photo-documentary exhibitions  dedicated to the 28th anniversary of 1991 referendum on independence of Ukraine.

    Foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine will hold ceremonial events on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine with the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora.
