Ukraine's energy system operates stably and predictably. This was emphasized by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during the Question Time for the Government in the Verkhovna Rada on February 18.

"There were no rolling blackouts, there are none and there are no plans. We have sufficient reserves of energy resources to complete this heating season in a stable way," said Denys Shmyhal.

According to the Prime Minister, as of February 16, 822,000 tons of coal are stored in Ukrainian storage facilities, which is almost twice as much as last year. In addition, gas storage facilities currently have 10.6 billion m3 of gas.

"The Ministry of Energy monitors the situation on a daily basis and is in consultations with Naftogaz in order not only to pass this heating season stably, but also to prepare for the next one," the Head of Government stressed.

According to Denys Shmyhal, the GTS Operator of Ukraine is also actively working to create alternative guaranteed facilities for gas imports. Thus, on February 1, for the first time in history, the physical import of gas from Hungary was triggered.

"There are also imports from Slovakia. We are working on maximum diversification of supplies. And this applies not only to the gas issue, but also to nuclear fuel, coal and oil," said the Prime Minister.

Moreover, the Prime Minister noted that 13 out of 15 units of nuclear power plants were currently in operation. According to him, on February 19, Unit II of Zaporizhzhia NPP should return to work, which will provide additional capacity reserve.
