Ukraine launches Working Group on REACH and CLP harmonization
The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine has established a Working Group to develop proposals for improving legislation in the field of chemical safety and chemical product management, headed by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Oleksandr Krasnolutskyi. The relevant order was approved on April 15.
The working group, which includes over 50 specialists, comprises representatives of Government agencies, the business community, industry associations, and experts with practical experience, particularly in the application of the REACH and CLP regulations.
The working group’s task is to prepare legislative proposals in the field of chemical safety aimed at aligning it with EU requirements within the framework of Ukraine’s European integration commitments by establishing clear rules for market participants.
Joint work on harmonizing legislation in the field of chemical safety is an important step toward establishing a chemical management system in accordance with European and international requirements.

REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) is a European Union regulation that establishes requirements for the registration, evaluation, authorization, and restriction of chemical substances. Its main objective is to protect human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemical substances, as well as to enhance the competitiveness of the chemical industry.
CLP (Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation) is an EU regulation governing the classification, labeling, and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures. Its goal is to ensure uniform rules for informing consumers, businesses, and government agencies about the hazards of chemical products.
