Ukraine and Argentina are discussing the possibility of deepening cooperation in a number of strategic sectors, including defence, as well as restoring energy and civilian infrastructure affected by russian missile attacks. This was discussed during a meeting of the Ukrainian delegation led by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, with Diana Mondino, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina.
“One of the key topics of the meeting was the discussion of ways to deepen cooperation in the defence sector, including the creation of joint defence enterprises, the purchase of artillery ammunition and gunpowder, and even investment in Argentine arms companies. We look forward to productive meetings on this issue in the coming days.
In addition, we raised the issue of russia’s systematic shelling of our energy infrastructure and the possibilities for Argentina to help restore it. Our systems are partly similar, so Argentina can help Ukraine with some spare parts,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The meeting also discussed the fact that russia continues to systematically destroy the storage infrastructure of Ukrainian agricultural products.
“As a result of such shelling, our country needs equipment for temporary storage of grain, in particular, silo bags, which Argentina is famous for producing. That is why we have invited Argentine companies to join investment projects in Ukraine in the agricultural sector. We also hope to increase trade in agricultural products, including exports of Ukrainian nitrogen fertilisers to Argentina,” continued Yuliia Svyrydenko.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the Ukrainian Peace Formula proposed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
‘We have invited the leadership of Argentina to join the first Peace Summit as one of the leaders in the implementation of the UN Charter under the Peace Formula. Argentina can focus on areas such as nuclear safety, food security and the return of Ukrainian prisoners of war and children,” Yuliia Svyrydenko concluded.
