eOselia: 10,000 Ukrainian families took out loans to buy housing
10,000 Ukrainian families have received almost UAH 16 billion in housing loans under the eOselia (eHousing) programme since the programme’s launch. About 30% of them are for the purchase of first sale housing. This was stated by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.
“Mortgage loans under the eOselia programme have already been taken out by 10,000 Ukrainian families. The total amount of loans issued by banks is almost UAH 16 billion. This programme performs not only a social function, helping Ukrainians to purchase housing on affordable terms, but also invests in the development of housing construction and related industries. 30% of the loans taken out by Ukrainians were for the purchase of first sale housing – either ready-made from a developer or under construction. Due to the growing demand for housing in the primary market, we support Ukrainian producers who build, manufacture building materials, and create new jobs,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
Last week, Ukrainians received 229 loans for UAH 396 million under the eOselia programme, including:
- 111 military and security personnel, 17 teachers, 12 doctors and 6 scientists received loans at 3%;
- 64 Ukrainians without their own housing, 4 IDPs and 15 veterans received loans at 7%.
Most often, loans were taken out to purchase housing on the secondary market (168 loans), while 61 Ukrainians took out a loan to buy first sale housing.
Most mortgage loans were taken out by residents of:
- Kyiv region – 61;
- Kyiv city – 47;
- Odesa region – 16;
- Lviv, Zakarpattia and Volyn regions – 12 each.
Today, the affordable lending programme is available to representatives of certain professions and citizens who do not own housing or want to improve its conditions. For contract service members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, teachers, doctors and scientists, the preferential rate is 3% per annum. For other categories – combatants, veterans, IDPs and other citizens – the mortgage rate is 7%.
