Today, 17 December, the Verkhovna Rada passed important legislative changes with 266 votes, providing social guarantees to families of police officers who went missing under special circumstances while performing their duties. This was announced by Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko.

Family members of police officers who went missing under special circumstances are guaranteed the right to:

● free medical care in MIA healthcare facilities;

● free sanatorium and resort treatment;

● non-competitive admission of children to higher, pre-higher, and vocational education institutions;

● all other benefits, guarantees, and compensation provided for by current legislation.

This bill was developed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in cooperation with the National Police and jointly reviewed with the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement to restore justice and guarantee the necessary assistance to families.

"Risk and service are a daily reality for police officers in the combat zone. Therefore, support for their families must be clear and guaranteed. Today's decision is exactly about that. I am grateful to the people's deputies for their support," emphasised Ihor Klymenko.
