Ministry of Economy: Ukraine exported goods worth USD 3.6 billion in March
In March, Ukraine exported goods worth more than USD 3.6 billion, which is 4.5% more than in March last year and 18% more than in February this year. According to preliminary data, in the first quarter of 2025, exports of goods reached almost USD 9.9 billion. This was announced by Taras Kachka, Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Representative of Ukraine.
“Despite the decline in exports in the first two months of the year, we managed to achieve positive dynamics in March. A significant increase in exports in March compared to February this year was made possible by an increase in supplies of agricultural products, iron ore and steel products. Thus, exports of pig iron increased by more than 13.4 times (by USD 110 million) compared to February. In March, exports of sunflower seeds increased 11.5 times (by USD 15.9 million), while supplies of sunflower meal increased by 80.3% (by USD 35.8 million) and sunflower oil by 39.2% (by USD 141.6 million). This helped to increase physical export volumes to 9.98 million tonnes, up 15.9% compared to February this year. In March, exports by sea increased by 24.7% in monetary terms and by 17% in weight compared to February this year. Exports by rail increased by 16.8% in monetary terms and by 15.1% in weight,” said Taras Kachka.
According to preliminary data, exports of goods since the beginning of the year have reached almost USD 9.9 billion.
“Despite the decline in the physical weight of Ukrainian exports, their monetary value is increasing. In March last year, we exported almost 11.9 million tonnes worth USD 3.46 billion, and in March this year – 9.9 million tonnes worth USD 3.62 billion. Thus, the share of goods with higher added value is gradually increasing, which means that the Ukrainian processing industry is successfully overcoming the obstacles to its development caused by the war and is entering foreign markets,” Taras Kachka said.
In March, Ukraine exported the following commodities by value:
- Corn: USD 514.4 million or 2.4 million tonnes.
- Sunflower, safflower, or cottonseed oil: USD 503 million or 441,000 tonnes.
- Wheat: USD 253.9 million or 1.1 million tonnes.
- Iron ore and concentrates: USD 238.4 million or 2.9 million tonnes.
- Soya beans: USD 150.2 million or 369,200 tonnes.
- Insulated wires: USD 124.6 million or 6,500 tonnes.
- Cast iron: USD 118.9 million or 300,900 tonnes.
Ukrainian producers exported most of their goods to Poland (USD 407.7 million), Turkey (USD 294.3 million), Italy (USD 231.8 million), Germany (USD 196.3 million), China (USD 189.4 million), and Spain (USD 185.7 million).
The European Union remains Ukraine’s key trading partner. In March, Ukraine exported USD 2.04 billion worth of goods to the EU (6.1% more than in February).
