  • PolyITAN-HP-30 nanosatellite created by Ukrainian scientists to be launched into Earth’s orbit
Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, posted 02 January 2023 19:11

On January 3, 2023, another Ukrainian nanosatellite, PolyITAN-HP-30, created on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, will be launched into Earth’s orbit from Cape Canaveral, USA, using a SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket.

The launch is scheduled to take place at 16:56 Kyiv time.

The PolyITAN-HP-30 nanosatellite was created by scientists of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” exclusively for budgetary funds allocated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within the framework of implementation of the relevant winning projects of research and development competitions, and the basic financing agreement.

The delivery of the PolyITAN-HP-30 nanosatellite to the United States of America for launching it into Earth’s orbit became possible thanks to the sponsorship of Boeing Ukraine, the support of the Delft University of Technology (Netherlands) and its spin-off company, which undertook financing and technical support of the spacecraft launch, as well as the State Space Agency of Ukraine, which contributed to solving logistics and export issues.

After launching into the planned orbit, the nanosatellite will ensure implementation of a scientific experiment to study the effectiveness of functioning of heat pipes of various designs as the main element of spacecraft thermal stabilization systems.

Starting 16:00 Kyiv time on January 03, 2023, KPImedia – the official YouTube channel of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute – will host a live broadcast of the launch of 114 payloads (one of which will be the Ukrainian PolyITAN-HP-30 nanosatellite) into Earth’s orbit as part of the Transporter 6 mission from Cape Canaveral by SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket. During the live broadcast, interviews and other events will be held.
