The Government has adopted a decision on organizing learning during prolonged air raid alerts, Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi announced.

"Communities must pay particular attention to this task and help educational institutions adapt the educational process to security challenges. In particular, they should explore the possibility of using other equipped shelters for learning," the Head of Government stressed.

According to him, each school independently determines its learning model, taking into account the security situation, the capacity of the shelter, and how it is equipped. Classes may take place in classrooms or in shelters, or combine in-person and remote formats.

Parents must know in advance how learning will be organized and be able to plan their day, so schedules should be flexible and learning formats predictable.

The Prime Minister emphasized that if a shelter does not allow all classes to be held in person, priority is given to subjects in the mathematics, natural sciences, language and literature, civic education, and history fields. Other subjects can be studied remotely if necessary.

However, as Sergii Koretskyi noted, the shelters of schools operating in person must be suitable for children to stay in for extended periods. They must have study spaces, lighting, backup power, internet access, and proper sanitary conditions.

The Ministry of Education and Science will monitor implementation of the decision monthly.

"The safety of children and teachers remains an unconditional priority. During an air raid alert, staying in a shelter is mandatory," the Head of Government stated.
